People Would Be Shocked If They Knew: That I was a classical music major in college for several years and toured with a madrigal group in my 20's singing early baroque music. I had a job as a page turner for the pianists at Carnegie Hall. I'm a gourmet chef, a ribbon winning gardener, I drive waaaayyy too fast, I'm a terrible housekeeper, and I love to read Readers Digest in the loo (I've never admitted that last one to anybody!).
I first got into radio during my sophmore year of college. At the time you had to work at the station for at least 6 months before you could be considered for an airslot. So I decided to flirt with the station general manager to see if I could get on the air right away to do news. Besides, he wasn't bad looking and had a car too (I was tired of walking 2 miles to school every day!). Sure enough, I got on the air within a week (he wanted to make points with me), started my radio career, and wound up marrying him 6 years later! Over the years I've been an international news editor for United Press Internation Radio, been on the air with both John A and John R Gambling on WOR, wrote and produced news at CBS Radio, traffic and news at Shadow, did ski reports on hundreds of stations and major networks, including stints with Don Imus and Howard Stern, produced hundreds of radio spots for various organizations including the Medical Society of the State of New York and Web MD, served as Director of the Radio Division for Medialink, a broadcast PR company, and for the past 20 years, my favorite job in various capacities from 'sno bunny' to co-host - on the air with Doug !
