Cheap Ways to Make Your House Festive for Halloween
Halloween must be spooky but it doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are ten cheap ways to make your house festive for Halloween:

  • White Sheets - Cover your furniture with sheets will give it the feel of a Haunted Mansion
  • Paint Pumpkins - Carved or painted pumpkins give your house a Halloween Theme
  • Spider Webs - Spider webs add instant creepiness.   Just pick up a pack of polyester cobwebs   for just over a dollar.
  • Dim Lighting - Cut the lights and stick with candles or dim lamps. Everything will look spookier when there are shadows dancing around the room.
  • Ghosts - Suspend simple white sheet ghosts from your trees or from your ceiling.
  • Dry Ice - They probably sell dry ice at your grocery store. For a few bucks you can instantly give a clear night some hazy fog.
  • Pumpkin Treats - Whip up some great pumpkin treats like Pumpkin Cake from AllRecipes.com or Pecan-Carmel Spiders from FoodNetwork.com.
  • Frame Freaky Photos - Swap out framed family photos for creepier ones printed off the Internet.
  • Cheap Fabric - Pick up some low-cost black tulle or cheesecloth to dress up a buffet table, mantel or window coverings. Dye the cheesecloth gray and create a spooky looking table runner. It’s the little details that will make your home freakishly festive this Halloween.

Trade your old iPod for cash
Gazelle.com pays customers for used electronics -- everything from BlackBerrys to digital cameras to cell phones. And they'll recycle your clunkers for free.
If you've got a drawer full of old electronics - cash them in at Gazelle.com.
The company pays cash for used electronics -- ranging from LCD TVs to video game consoles and cell phones -- and then either resells or recycles the items.
Just log on to the site and answer a few quick questions, like whether the device powers on successfully, and if the battery works. Then Gazelle calculates how much it will pay for the item through an algorithm that uses price data culled from primary and secondary retailers like eBay and Amazon. Four-year-old laptops can fetch as much as $200, and fourth-generation iPods can score nearly $100.

SAVE MONEY BY KNOWING HOW TO COMPLAIN!!

The QOC says one way to save money is knowing how to launch a complaint if you feel you've been ripped off! One of the best ways to start is by talking to a REAL person!  These days it's almost impossible unless you know how - you get an automated machine (the QOC really dislikes those automated machines!).  So here is a website that shows you how to reach a REAL person when you call!

www.dialahuman.com

Thanks Jen! (She found this website and clued the QOC about it!)

DO YOU QUALIFY FOR A FREE CELL PHONE?

The QOC thought this was too good to be true - but she checked it out and it's legit.

IF you quality, you can get a free cellphone with around an hour of free minutes each month!  Here's the link to the program:

http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/lllu.html

It's a government supported program to provide free cellphones to low income persons who qualify.  You must be receiving some sort of Federal assistance program such as Public Housing, Food Stamps and Medicaid OR your income is at or below 135% of the poverty guidelines set by your State and/or Federal Government AND No one in your household currently receives this service.

Here's a little more info from the government site:

You can also contact your local telephone company or your state public service commission for more information about these programs and to determine whether or not you qualify for discounts. Contact information for your state public service commission can be found on the Web site of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners,www.naruc.org/commissions.cfm, or in the blue pages or government section of your local telephone directory.
