Bristol Palin Tweets Some Criticism Toward Her MomJan-11-2011
I don't know what to make of it, and Mediaite's Alex Alvarez seems equally nonplussed and raises the menacing specter of a well-orchestrated grift...
There is definitely the possibility that Bristol's feed was somehow hacked (which, given the mostly critical media attention the elder Palin is contending with right now, isn't all that unlikely.) There is also a decent chance that this is not, in fact Bristol Palin's account (though her previous tweets appear to support the fact that it is in fact hers - though at this point this is unconfirmed.)...
If this is a fake Twitter account, then the individual behind it is brilliant for developing a rather ingenious "long con."
Let's assume, for a moment, that this is a "long con." Just how long is it?
Perhaps this Twitter account never did belong to Bristol Palin. But let us perhaps further, and consider the possibility that Bristol Palin has never actually existed. More further perhaps, what about the possibility that Sarah Palin has never existed. That would be a brilliant con job indeed. Difficult to pull off, and I'm not sure what the pay off is and for whom. But if if this has been done, then we're talking a world class grift.
Granted, this speculation seems crazy and totally unwarranted. But is it? Let employ Occam's Razor here, and ask ourselves: What is less believable? That a team of confidence artists invented a political figure and managed to infiltrate the Republican Party with the hopes of gaining control of the White House? Or that a huge voting bloc of the country has fallen under the sway of a feeble-minded compulsive liar with demonstrably poor leadership skills?
Okay, the latter. you're right.
