Ann Curry begs NBC to let her go to CNN
Jan-02-2013

When Ann Curry begs NBC to let her out of her contract, there must be something valuable in sight. That's exactly the case as she wants to leave because she's eyeing a high profile time slot on a major news network, working for a former boss from "The Today Show."

As reported earlier on Jan. 1 by KHQ.com, Curry has asked NBC to end her contract so she can take over Anderson Cooper's slot at CNN. Curry's former boss at the "Today Show," Jeff Zucker, is set to begin his job as president of CNN Worldwide as of this February. He's the one who wants Curry to fill the 8 p.m. EST time slot on the news network.

The reason Curry wants to leave is due to a "non-compete" clause in her contract. If she simply quits her gig on the "Today Show," then she's prohibited from working for any other network. So she'll basically need NBC's help and permission to land this new job at CNN.
