Nap Nanny Recliners RecalledJul-27-2010
Baby Matters recalls Nap Nanny recliners due to entrapment, suffocation, and Fall Hazards. There has been one reported death. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Baby Matters LLC is announcing the voluntary recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny portable baby carriers. The baby that died was in the Nap Nanny inside of a crib and fell out of the Nap Nanny and got caught up between the side of the crib and the Nap Nanny. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that they have received 22 reports that infants, primarily younger than 5 months old, have fallen out of the Nap Nanny despite being placed in the harness. Infants can partially fall out of the Nap Nanny portable baby recliner even while the harness is in use.
In addition, if the Nap Nanny is used in a way that is not recommended, such as inside of a crib, play yard, pack and play, or other confined area, the infant can fall out of or hang over the side of the Nap Nanny and become entrapped and possible suffocate. The recalled product was manufactured in the U.S. and China and sold nationwide in the United States. Consumers should stop using the Nap Nanny immediately and contact the firm to receive information on how to purchase a new Nap Nanny.
