From Tom Parsons - TSA Rolls Out Trusted Traveler At Some Security CheckpointsOct-13-2011
TSA Trusted Traveler Program launches in Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, and Miami. If there is one program that makes sense, it is the pilot program called the trusted traveler TSA pre check!
Currently the TSA security check at airports is one size fits all. Everyone is a suspect from small children to 92-year old little old ladies who are young at heart! Now that might be politically correct, but does it make sense?
Let's think about the TSA's primary job and that is to protect us from the unknown. The job is to deter terrorist or stop someone who may have a gun, bomb, or some other kind of weapon.
The TSA rolled out a new pilot program, officially called "TSA PreCheck," that will be available only at certain airport gates and only for travel on specific airlines. American Airlines will test this program out at their main hub in Dallas/Ft. Worth and also Miami. Delta will start the program in both Atlanta and Detroit.
The new program is available to elite status frequent flyers of Delta or American Airlines and only will be available in Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas and Miami. If you qualify, your perk will be the ability to speed through security, and it will be well worth it. Eligible participants who have opted into the program should use the following checkpoints:
 Atlanta: T-South Checkpoint
 Dallas: Terminal C, Checkpoint C30
Detroit: Checkpoint 2 on the ticketing level
 Miami: D2 Checkpoint
The pre-check passengers enter a special lane and sign tells these customers that there is no need to remove your shoes, take your laptop out, remove belts, or remove light outerwear or take out those bags of liquids; filled with travel size toiletries.
