From Warren Eckstein - 41 Dachshunds rescued from Arkansas millFeb-03-2016
The Nebraska Dachshund Rescue has taken in 41 dogs from a puppy mill in Arkansas.
Nebraska Dachshund Rescue's Julie Siebler said the dogs were found in deplorable conditions.
"When we got down there to the home to pick them up we found they were living in boxes and garages and cages stacked on top of one another in garages. So we knew it was a little bit more of an emergency to get them out of there and to get them vetted than what was portrayed to us," said Siebler.
Twenty of the dogs are now up for adoption at Rockbrook Animal Clinic in Omaha, Nebraska. The others were sent to other animal rescue locations.
The dogs were taken to Omaha overnight and checked out after the owner in Arkansas contacted the rescue group.
"There is one of them that is heartworm positive. They all have fleas. They all have worms and they all have dirty fungus ears. So all that is being treated today except for the heartworm, that will be an extended treatment for that dog," Siebler said.
