From Warren Eckstein - NY state law rules out woman's request to 'get buried with pets'Jun-14-2011
The state of New York has rejected the request of a 61-year-old woman who wishes to be buried along with her furry pets at the Hartsdale Pet Cemetery in Westchester.
Rhona Levy from Bronx has already planned to be buried alongside her dog, Snow and cats Putchke, Pumpkin and Twinkie, a wish that she has reportedly incorporated in her will.
The animal lover has even got two headstones made, one with the inscription "Mommy's Home", which awaits her and her 10-year-old cat Shaina.
"I feel these little furry children are my children. Why not be with them? They're my babies," the New York Post quoted her as saying. owever, the state law stated that cemeteries are for people and pet cemeteries are just for animals.
"The two shouldn't cross," Richard Fishman, director of the state's Division of Cemeteries, said.
