Larry King - Singer / Songwriter
December 10 2010
That's the Larry King Orchestra, with their version of the classic song from Dinah Washington.
Larry began at the tender age of seven and although his schedule was busy with performances on stage and screen he managed to feature in 52 commercials before the age of 13.
Larry is well known in Chicago and nationwide for, among other things, his work on commercial jingles with a diverse range of clients including 'Ferrara-Pan' candy, R.C. Cola, Coca-Cola, Gatorade, Enterprise Rental Cars, Long John Silver, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, the CD ROM game 'You Don't Know Jack' and the theme song for The Heritage Christian Church...to name a few.
Recently, Modern Bride named the Larry King Orchestra one of the top wedding bands in the country for the second year in a row!

Larry is also the driving force behind the band Soleil (pronounced So LAY) Moon. Larry and Soleil Moon recorded a terrific version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" (with the London Symphony Orchestra)!

After some chart success in the 1990's, Soleil Moon has a new CD due this February, and here's a sneak peak, a new song called "On The Way To Everything"

Roger Thomas - Musician
December 03 2010
Roger Thomas started the group Naturally 7 with his brother Warren in 1999 (along with five other talented singers they'd come to know from singing around New York City).
Naturally 7 became a VOCAL PLAY band, instead of an a cappella group. The difference being that A cappella is singing without instruments, while VOCAL PLAY is singing AS instruments (and becoming an instrument with the voice).

Every instrument sound that they sing is created from the human voice. There are no actual drums, guitars, horns, flutes, or any other instrument that is heard when listening to them perform; it's the band members playing each of their vocal instruments.

They've performed recently with (and for) Quincy Jones, who says, "Naturally 7 is poised to take a cappella to the next level! They're some of my favorite singers."
Before becoming the founder, music director, composer and arranger for Naturally 7, Roger was an English teacher!
They are currently on tour with Michael Buble!

Naturally 7's version of John Lennon's "Happy Christmas" is currently one of the most added Christmas songs on American radio stations! It's already a top 30 hit (currently #28 on the Adult Contemporary radio chart at FMQB).

You really get a good sense of Naturally 7's VOCAL PLAY on their version of "What Child Is This"

Mike Finnigan - Musician
December 02 2010
"Little Drummer Boy/Silent Night/Auld Lang Syne"

That's a song Jimi Hendrix recorded around the time he recorded his landmark album "Electric Ladyland". Mike Finnigan was one of the session musicians that joined Jimi on the recording of that classic album.

In addition to his own solo projects, Mike has also worked with Etta James, Sam Moore, Buddy Guy, the Manhattan Transfer, Cher, Ringo Starr, Dave Mason, Rod Stewart, Peter Frampton, Tracy Chapman and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He's currently on the tour in Germany with Joe Cocker!

Mike also worked with a supergroup last year, on an original Christmas song, in an effort to raise money for legendary drummer Richie Hayward (who had been diagnosed with cancer).
The group called themselves the North Pole Allstars, and featured members of Little Feat (Richie's band), the Meters, Taj Mahal, and Robert Cray's band.

The song they recorded is "Santa Gotta Get Some" and the went to Sweet Relief (www.SweetRelief.com) to help Richie Hayward.

Sadly, Richie passed away this past summer. Now, the North Pole Allstars are using the song to raise money for other artists.

The song is available on iTunes, Amazon and other online outlets. It's also on the CD "The Sounds of Christmas, Volume 2", which also benefits Sweet Relief (and also features previously unreleased and exclusive songs from Belinda Carlisle, Dave Stewart and Vertical Horizon).

You can also get the CD at the label's website: www.socmusic.net

Joseph Nieves - Vegetable Butcher
November 27 2010
Eataly is more than a supermarket with restaurants. It is an energetic marketplace, an opportunity to taste and take home the products of artisans who till, knead and press to bring you the highest quality products at fair price. We have assembled the absolute best Italian producers from every region under one roof and the absolute best chefs to cook their wares; Eataly is the heartbeat of Italy. We want to challenge the idea that quality products are accessible only to a select few. We've done it in Italy: Torino, Bologna, Milano, Pinnerolo, Asti and Japan: Tokyo, Daikanyama, Mitsukoshi & Gransta, now it's time to take New York. Our new New York address does not mean we are only about importing. Our bread is made with New York flour, our gelato is whipped up with local dairy and our meat, produce and fish are almost always American. Grazie, America!
