Edmund Woo - Restaurant Consultant
October 09 2010
Edmund Woo is author of The 5 Hour Restaurant Work Week: Work Less, Make More and Have a Life, too. Edmund teaches and coaches independent restaurant owners how to Make More Money, Stress Out Less, Work Less, And Get Their Lives Back. An independent restaurant owner, himself, Edmund is the successful owner operator of Saskatoon: Steaks Fish and Wild Game, a casual fine dining dinner house with a North Woods Hunting Lodge theme.

Edmund's career in the restaurant industry has been life-long, beginning at the age of four, when he started singing "Happy birthday" to the diners at his family's Chinese restaurant. At five, he added to his duties of "entertainer" by joining the Woo family children dishwashing team at the three compartment sink (this was before the days of the dish machine). When Edmund was 10 years old, his father passed away so that by the age of 14, Edmund was in charge of hiring and training employees for the restaurant. By the ripe old age of 20, Edmund had already opened his first restaurant.

Edmund has a degree in Finance from Clemson University and a Masters in Business from the University of Georgia.

As a true restaurant entrepreneur, Edmund has owned and operated numerous concepts: Bar and Grill, Italian, Chinese, Diner, Upscale French and his current business, SASKATOON. He is a firm believer in the adage that "you never really know the restaurant business until you hold the keys."

Joy and Eve Baher - Television Host and Author
October 08 2010
Joy Behar - comedienne, television host, author and mother. Despite having lost both parents to heart disease, Joy's mother Rose was not prepared when a sudden fatal heart attack struck in her fifties.

Eve Behar - is partnering with her mom Joy, challenging women who have or are at risk to be prepared and better their odds of surviving, should a heart attack strike without warning.

They are joining The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease and Bayer Aspirin to alert women that being prepared can help save their lives.

This includes recognizing the warning signs and keeping an aspirin on hand to help reduce damage to the heart. Experts agree that taking one regular-strength aspirin tablet (325mg) can reduce the risk of death by up to 23 percent if taken, as directed by a doctor, during a suspected heart attack and continued for 30 days thereafter.

They are introducing a new campaign, offering a special-edition pill tote that makes it easy to always have aspirin available. For every pill tote purchased, Bayer will donate $1 to WomenHeart.

Teri Gault - Founder of TheGroceryGame.com and author of "Shop Smart, Save More."
October 02 2010
The Grocery Game grew out of a very smart and frugal hobby. Teri Gault (the company's founder and CEO) was intent on saving her family money. Her common sense homestyle approach to good living included collecting coupons and matching them to grocery store sales. Eventually, this hobby became a passion. Teri would share her money saving ideas with family and friends who were more than impressed by her attention to detail and her ability to predict sales trends. After some time, it became obvious that Teri's "hobby" was more than just a good idea to share with friends.

The business of The Grocery Game was underway. At first, The Grocery Game made "TERI'S LISTs" available mainly to members in Southern California. Later, by offering franchises to persons throughout the United States, the company was able to expand at an unprecedented pace. Currently, The Grocery Game offers "TERI'S LIST" in all 50 states, and 7 foreign countries. Tens of thousands of members log on each week and save hundreds of dollars a month on their groceries.

Byron Janis - One of the greatest pianists of the 20th century
October 01 2010
Byron Janis is considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.

He started playing publicly at the age of seven. At 15 he appeared with Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra, became the first student of Vladimir Horowitz at 16 and in 1960 went to the Soviet Union as the first pianist in the U.S. Cultural Exchange program.

He overcame a childhood accident to his little finger and painful psoriatic arthritis in both hands and wrists, kept secret for 12 years until a White House performance in 1985 when Nancy Reagan announced his becoming a national spokesperson for the Arthritis Foundation.

Both instances forced Janis to re-teach himself to play, and today doctors consider it a miracle.

Today he lectures along with teaching master classes and composing and is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal.

The PBS documentary Chopin and Beyond debuts this weekend and presents an intimate portrait of a determined individual and it will eventually be aired on 68 PBS stations.

The documentary reveals for the first time many spiritual and amazing experiences in the world of the paranormal.

A companion book, Chopin and Beyond, written by Byron with his wife Maria Cooper Janis, in which he traces his life's journey, is scheduled to be published in December. Byron's wife, Maria is the daughter of Gary Cooper.
