Fabulous Info Babe and Co-Host

Nickname: Radio Goddess (really. I get mail addressed that way!)
Favorite quote: 1. Never argue with a fool, people watching may not know who is who. 2. The light at the end of the tunnel is the headlamp of an oncoming train. 3. Never sleep with anyone crazier than yourself. 4, If it don't run fast enough, it's dinner.
Favorite song/group: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (of course!) Song: Beethovans 9th (go figure)
Favorite Book: The Lord of the Rings, JRR Tolkein
Favorite Movie: Old: Casablanca New: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy EE versions!
A Doug file: In the spring of 1995 Doug and I were in Las Vegas for the NAB (National Association of Broadcaster) convention. I was also there with my husband who had his own business interests, and my then 9 year old and the nanny (who were staying in an adjoining room). One evening Doug and I went out on a 'comp' dinner and show together. Being a good boy and girl, the night wrapped early since we had to be up before the sun to get the show on the air. Well my husband had been out that evening too, entertaining clients, and he came back significantly later - in a - uh - somewhat drunk and 'playful' mood. Well, about a month later I discover that I'm pregnant with our second child. So I call up Doug, and say to him "Hey Doug, remember that night we went out in Vegas? Well guess what, I'm pregnant!". There's dead silence on the other end of the phone. For a good long minute. You could feel the tension in the air. The nervousness. Then Doug says "But....but......we didn't do anything!" I didn't reply for a moment - savoring the practical joke! And then I said: "No, but Tom did!". It was first time in all the years I had known Doug that I rendered him speechless!
Favorite part of being part of the show: Never knowing what Doug is going to come up with that day! I started with Doug in the early 80's doing ski reports and have been on the air with him ever since. And even after all these years, I never know what's going to happen when we're on the air together! He always amazes me with his good humor, fresh insights and easy-going demeanor. It's also fun as heck to rag on Doug! Doug: You know I love you!
Favorite non-work activity: Spending time with my kids! We have a great time traveling around together! They're wonderful company! And flossing my teeth. There's something immediately rewarding about flossing your teeth. Favorite non-work activity: Spending time with my kids! We have a great time traveling around together! They're wonderful company! And flossing my teeth. There's something immediately rewarding about flossing your teeth.
Pet Peeve: People who pretend to be someone they really aren't. And shrink wrap. When I'm Goddess of the Universe I'm going to outlaw shrink wrap.
Best quality: The ability to laugh at myself (and at my own jokes!). And I'm a really really good driver (you try driving like a cabbie in Manhattan!).
Worst habit: Picking my toenails (you really didn't want to know that, did you?) I used to be able to bite them, but I'm not so nimble anymore!
Hobbies / Extracurricular activities - sports, charities etc.: Sailing. Scuba diving. Swimming. I'm a gourmet cook (family was in the restaurant biz for nearly 40 years). Travel, anywhere, anytime! Writing. Hiking. Reading. Have been involved with Cancer Care for over 15 years - both my kids and myself are part of their yearly "Red Stocking Revue" variety show which raises money for CC.
Spouse, Kids, Pets: 2 girls, 9 and 19! Husband Tom of 25 years, together 32 years. Met him at college - he was GM of the radio station there. I wanted to get on the air but didn't want to do 'go-fer' work for six months (which was the requirement) so I 'flirted' with the GM. Heck, he wasn't bad looking, and he had a car. Married him 7 years later. Goes to show you: Be careful who you flirt with. Pets: Ex-cat "Cuddles" who died last year (on the same day we were leaving for London. Instead of packing we're burying the cat!) and a revolving door goldfish named "Goldie" which regularly dies and is replaced by a new "Goldie".
Comments: Being on the air every morning with the Doug Stephan family is always a treat! I feel so lucky to work with some of the best people in the world - and people who I can truely call my friends. It's funny how you develop a bond with people that you might rarely see in person. For example: I think I talked every day with Rich McFadden for three years before I actually met him face to face! And Doug is the kindest, most honest and most generous person I know, and I'm honored to be able to call him my friend. The entire Doug Stephan team is the best at what they do, they can always make me laugh, and it's wonderful to be able to start my day off with them every morning! (OK: Enough of the sappy stuff).
