Cheesy Coffee BurgersApr-27-2013
Next time your family says, "hamburgers again?" bring out this yummy version, and you'll be hearing praises galore!
Although finely ground coffee works perfectly well, the espresso powder gives a more authentic coffee taste and holds up well against the other strong flavors.
This recipe makes 4 large burgers and the recipe easily doubles.
Cheesy Coffee Burgers Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
 cup crumbled blue cheese
1 tablespoon espresso powder or very finely ground coffee, preferably Sumatra or Costa Rica
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon Dijon or similar brown mustard
cup chopped green onion (green and white parts together)
1 small (2" or smaller) jalapeno pepper, seeds removed, and thinly sliced
cup finely diced red or yellow bell pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
Place all the ingredients in a medium size bowl and lightly mix together with a wooden spoon.
Form into patties and grill, broil or fry to desired doneness.
Serve on a bun or plain with a mixed green salad or cole slaw, baked potato, and freshly made hot coffee.
