Doug had a great day on the Michael Jackson Express, which rolled
out of Paddington station London on 14/06/02.
A seven-carriage Orient Express-style luxury train was hired by Exeter
City Football Club to the big event at their grounds at St James's Park
Exeter.
The whole event was organised by Doug's friend Uri Geller; Doug's guest
presenter each Saturday on the Doug Stephan show. Uri was recently appointed
joint chairman of Exeter City football club, and had invited some of his
friends to raise money for children charities - Michael Jackson the King
of Pop, David Blaine (known for his headline-making daring and death-defying
feats of physical and emotional endurance) and also singer Patti Boulaye.
The remaining four coaches were taken up by the 115 people who bought
tickets at $150.00 for charity with almost all the tickets going to European
fans but some were bought by fans in the US. Once at Exeter city there
was a full programme of guest performers to the capacity crowd - all paying
a fee with proceeds also going to charity.
